Fleet and equipment mechanic

Responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of all company vehicles and machinery. The role is essential for minimizing equipment downtime and ensuring that all vehicles and tools are safe and operational for landscaping crews. 

Core responsibilities

  • Inspections and Diagnostics: Mechanics perform inspections on vehicles and equipment to identify issues, often using computerized diagnostic tools for modern machinery.

  • Repairs and Maintenance: They perform routine maintenance and complex repairs on a wide range of gasoline, diesel, and sometimes electric equipment. This includes tasks such as:

    • Repairing engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems.

    • Servicing brake, cooling, and electrical systems.

    • Replacing parts like air filters, belts, and spark plugs.

    Equipment and Mechanic Services

    • Small engines: Mowers, trimmers, leaf blowers, chainsaws, and other handheld tools.

    • Heavy machinery: Tractors, skid-steer loaders, excavators, and trenchers.

    • Company fleet: Commercial trucks, trailers, and other company vehicles.

    Required Kkills

    What do you need?

    Strong mechanical skills and a systematic approach to problem-solving. This includes:

    • Experience with different types of engines (gasoline and diesel) and mechanical systems.

    • Familiarity with tools, including power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic software.

    • Excellent communication skills to interact with crew leaders, managers, and vendors.

    • The ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. 


Lawn Care Technician 

  • Duties: Mowing, weeding, fertilizing, aerating, and seeding lawns. They also apply pesticides and herbicides to control pests and weeds.

  • Skills: Knowledge of different grass types, soils, pests, and lawn care equipment.

  • Pay: $17.40 per hour, with experience $21 per hour. 

Hardscape installer

  • Duties: Focuses on the installation of non-plant features such as paver patios, retaining walls, and walkways.

  • Skills: Masonry and construction experience. The role is physically demanding and requires precision

  • Pay: $19.50 per hour, with experience $23 a hour.

Irrigation technician

  • Duties: Installing, maintaining, and repairing complex sprinkler and irrigation systems for lawns and gardens.

  • Skills: Experience with piping, controllers, and sprinkler heads. Must have a valid driver's license and often require knowledge of local watering regulations.

  • Pay: $20 per hour, with experience $24 a hour.
